INTRODUCTION
This e-portfolio reflects how I applied the principles of Education 5.0 during my Work Integrated Learning (WIL) through activities related to environmental pollution. The portfolio demonstrates my contribution to teaching, research, community service, innovation, and industrialisation while promoting environmental awareness among learners and the school community.
PILLAR 1: TEACHING
Activity
Teaching learners about environmental pollution, its causes, effects, and prevention through learner-centred activities.
Reflection
During my teaching practice, I taught learners about environmental pollution using discussions, demonstrations, group work, and visual aids. Learners identified different forms of pollution and suggested ways of protecting the environment. These activities enhanced learner participation and environmental awareness. This reflects the teaching pillar of Education 5.0 because it promotes effective knowledge delivery and practical learning.
PILLAR 2: RESEARCH
Activity
Conducting a survey and observations on environmental pollution within the school environment.
Reflection
I carried out observations and gathered information on waste disposal practices around the school. The findings helped identify areas requiring improvement and guided awareness campaigns. This demonstrates the research pillar because evidence was collected and used to address environmental challenges affecting the school.
PILLAR 3: COMMUNITY SERVICE
Activity
Participating in school and community clean-up campaigns to reduce environmental pollution.
Reflection
I worked together with learners and community members in cleaning the school grounds and surrounding areas. The activity promoted environmental responsibility, teamwork, and community participation. This aligns with the community service pillar of Education 5.0 because it contributes positively to society and environmental sustainability.
PILLAR 4: INNOVATION
Activity
Creating waste bins and environmental awareness posters using recycled materials.
Reflection
I encouraged learners to reuse waste materials such as plastic bottles, cardboard, and paper to create useful environmental resources. These innovations promoted recycling and reduced waste within the school. This demonstrates innovation because creative solutions were developed to address environmental pollution.
PILLAR 5: INDUSTRIALISATION
Activity
Producing reusable educational materials and decorative items from recyclable waste materials.
Reflection
I guided learners in producing useful items such as flower pots, pen holders, and learning materials from recyclable waste. These products promoted environmental conservation while providing practical educational resources. This reflects the industrialisation pillar because waste materials were transformed into valuable products that can be used within the school.
CONCLUSION
My Work Integrated Learning experience enabled me to apply all five pillars of Education 5.0 while addressing environmental pollution. Through teaching, research, community service, innovation, and industrialisation, I promoted environmental awareness and sustainable practices among learners and the school community. The experience strengthened my professional skills and commitment to environmental stewardship.
